Pular
Pular (or Fula) is spoken
mostly throughout the Fouta Djallon region in central
Guinea. However, the Fulani people (or Peuls) are
scattered throughout Guinea.
The Pular Guide
for Peace Corps Guinea is the best resource
for learning this difficult and amazing language.
Developed by Herb Caudill (RPCV), this is a .pdf
document (readable with Adobe Acrobat reader).
Complete with silly pictures and cultural guides.
Parlons Pular,
by Peace Corps' very own Alpha Baldé, is
now for sale. Click
here for a summary (in French and English). Click

Malinke
Malinke is somewhat like Bambara and is
spoken mostly in Haute (Upper) Guinea. You can download
the Peace Corps Guinea Malinke manual at the links
below:
This link may also be useful for learning to write
Malinke using the N'Ko alphabet:
Susu
Susu bears some similarity to Malinke.
It is spoken primarily in the Basse Côte (lower
Guinea). You can download the Peace Corps Guinea Susu
manual at the links below:
Wolof
Guinea Peace Corps volunteers trained in Senegal
before 2001 where they used Wolof--one of the native
languages of Senegal--during training.
